What can I expect as a private obstetric patient of Dr Shammas?
Dr Shammas offers full obstetrical care, including high-risk obstetric care.
During your pregnancy you will be seen mainly by Dr Shammas. This allows you to form a “bond” with her and equally importantly, it allows Dr Shammas to get to know you, so she can provide the best possible individualized care for you.
Where does Dr Shammas deliver private obstetric patients?
Currently Dr Shammas does all deliveries and caesarean sections at Sydney Southwest Private Hospital and high-risk patients will be delivered at Liverpool hospital.
She will provide private obstetric delivery at The George Centre in Gledswood Hills upon its opening in mid 2023.
What can I expect as a private obstetric patient?
Dr Shammas provides in-office ultrasounds and can perform external versions (for breech babies) on labour and delivery.
Dr Shammas is a “baby-friendly doctor”, meaning that she encourages and supports breast-feeding when at all possible. Lactation consultants are available in the hospital post-partum, and are available for on-going consultation once you’ve gone home.
Sydney Southwest Private Hospital and The George Centre are pleased to offer prenatal classes, and offer infant care and parenting classes on site.
