Vaginal Birth

During your pregnancy you will be fully supported and involved in all of the decisions regarding your care and delivery, including the time and mode of your delivery  through  a birth plan developed in conjunction with you and Dr Shammas. It is important though to be flexible about your birth plan, as things can change during your pregnancy and labour.

Dr Shammas and her team will educate you about all signs of early labour and  will also advise you about the time for hospital presentation and information regarding access to the labour ward of your nominated hospital. Dr Shammas delivers in the private setting at The George Centre and Sydney Southwest Private Hosptals

During your pregnancy, you can always feel comfortable to ask us any questions and discuss your preferences.

Dr Shammas and her team will provide you with every assistance and all the information you need to help you determine a birth plan that includes the management of  labour pains through analgesics available such as gas, injection or an epidural block so you can make informed choices.

It is her goal for all women to aim for a normal vaginal delivery unless there are obstetric complications present. She will then consider and discusss with you the need for a  Caesarean section. It is important to be flexible regarding any changes she recommends  to ensure the health and well-being of you and your baby.
